Michael Terban, CISSP, SSCP, HIPAA Security -- Director of Technology Assessment Services Michael has over 8 years of experience in the information technology field with more than 5 years dedicated to IT consulting. He is a expert in the area of secure systems integration, networking, incident handling and analysis. Michael has worked for many companies as well as for government clients. Among the organizations that he has served are: Hamilton Standard, Pratt & Whitney, Phoenix Home Life, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of California. Michael has also designed and conducted seminars and training courses in the area of security awareness, auditing, penetration testing, vulnerability, and risk assessments. He has developed on-line enterprise systems, audited and secured major Insurance companies online systems and assessed/re-mediated/designed the security of financial institutions. He has extensive knowledge of compliance requirements, best practices and standards such as NIST, CMM, CIS, NSA, NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, ITL, HIPAA and ISO 17799.
Eugene T. Tyrrell, CISSP -- Practice Director Gene is an IT professional with twenty years of 'in the trenches' experience. He brings extensive experience across many disciplines to his clients - including internal controls, database management, data center operations, business continuity, data modeling, applications development, change management, electronic discovery, IP management and incident response. He has worked extensively with senior management, global teams and clients in many unique and challenging roles. Before joining Polar Cove, Gene was Director of Information Technology at Dehon Inc where he was responsible for managing, securing and transferring intellectual property and information systems in the wake of a Section 363 auction of an international bankruptcy. In addition to traditional IT responsibilities, non traditional activities included electronic discovery, data preservation, data forensics analysis and litigation support. Prior to Dehon, he was Director of IT at Arthur D. Little, where he was responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, availability and sanity of the global enterprise systems and IT infrastructure. Gene is CISSP certified and frequently writes about information security from a business perspective. Gene holds a B.A. in Psychology from Villanova University and is a candidate for M.S. in Information Assurance from Northeastern University.
